PDA Problem: Overcrowded Hallways Cause Difficulties

Overflowed classrooms, crowded busses, and long lunch lines are all huge problems at Ooltewah High School. These are all important issues and should get more attention. However, there are some problems that people notice but don’t address, such as PDA in the hallways.

PDA stands for Public Display of Affection. This is such a problem at our school because of the amount of students we have and how crowded our hallways are. Students have spoken about this, such as Shelby Sutton, a junior at OHS, complained about “couples and groups of people always being in the way and make it hard to get to class.”

This problem isn’t only because of couples. Big groups of people that socialize in the middle of the hallway or cafeteria make getting to class difficult. This is a huge problem because not only is the group that’s crowding the hallway late to class, but also the students that can’t get past them. Coach Brown, an OHS second year teacher, spoke on the matter, saying, “It restricts movement and is unprofessional.”

PDA and groups crowding the hallways is a serious problem that deserves more attention. It stems from the school being so overcrowded. It affects both students and administration, so we should work together to fix this problem.
